These are concert posters from my earlier stint in Portland. I went to most of these shows and collected the posters to decorate my apartment. I was accompanied by Kerri, Ken, Bill, Shawn or Colleen unless otherwise noted.

Alex Chilton is a legendary performer. This was my very first concert in Portland. I was glad to get a chance to see him at such a small venue (Berbati's Pan is tiny). |
It's Big Head Todd, in case you can't read it. Fifteen dollars is way too much to pay for a band that usually plays bars. AND Rusted Root chaps my ass. |

The second loudest show I've ever attended, It was still a distant second to The Pixies at the old Blue Note in Columbia, Mo. in 1987. That show ruined my ears for life. |
Went to see John Doe's band but left when this chick started playing. She bores the hell out of me.
|
|
|
Went to see the Catherine Wheel out of loyalty to my England days. But there were too many Belly-types at this show. Can you say "frat party?" |
Mazzy Star should give at least 25% of their revenues to this band. The Mission founded that whole haunting-enchantress genre. |

|
Bettie Serveert is one of my all-time favorites. These Dutch kids are good. I saw them again when they came to town with Wilco. |
The Reverend is A numba' one in my book. This poster is from Columbia, so forgive me. |

I'm a big fan of Buffalo Tom. They are a very good live show. I went to this show by myself due to lack of interest. Serves them right. |
I've seen the Samples on several occasions and always had a good time. Went to this particular show with the entire crew of friends listed above. |

This guy put the "freak" in "freak show." I mean it. |
Classic concert at the Roseland (a big place). The Youth made up for the whiny lead singer from Bikini Kill. Hey Cathleen, shut up and rock! |
|
|
Doris Daze was a workhorse on the Portland music scene. I saw them play at least six times as opening acts. They played even better when they headlined this show with a legendary rock band - Richmond Fontaine. This was without a doubt the highlight of my Portland days. |
Didn't go to this particular show (out of town for my brother's wedding), but I caught them a year later when Sleater-Kinney opened for them. Yo La Tengo was boring but the Grrrls brought the house down. I likes SK. |
|
|
Fat Luv is my buddy's punk band. Saw them at least 10 times, including birthday parties. Always a rowdy time. They used to chuck pint cans of Guinness into the crowd when they played a song by the same name. Other shenanigans shall go unmentioned. |
Went to this show with Brian, Shawn and Mary. The two opening bands stole the show. | |
| Didn't go to this show but I thought the poster was cool. |
Robin Hitchcock is another 'King Freak' contender, but still an excellent songwriter. |
